AGLC4 Rule 5.8: Articles Published in Parts

An article published in several parts is given a complete citation for each part cited. A bracket containing Pt and the part number goes between the title and the year, whether or not other parts are cited, and any reference to the part is removed from the title itself.

A boxed element is filled in with the source's details; everything outside a box is written exactly as shown.

Formatting

  • Pt and the part number are placed in round brackets after the closing quotation mark of the title and before the year, with a space on each side.
  • Pt is capitalised, has no full stop and is followed by an Arabic numeral.
  • Words in the title identifying the part, such as Part I or Part One, are removed.
  • Each part cited receives its own full citation.
  • The Pt bracket is used even when only one part is cited.
