Copyright in User-Uploaded Content
You Own Your Content
You retain full copyright ownership of all audio files, recordings, and original content you upload to TranscriptAI ("User Content").
Your Responsibilities
By uploading User Content, you represent and warrant that:
- You own all rights to the content, OR
- You have obtained necessary permissions from all speakers/participants, OR
- You qualifies as fair dealing/fair use under applicable copyright law
Recording Consent
You are solely responsible for obtaining consent from all parties before recording conversations, in accordance with applicable laws in your jurisdiction (e.g., one-party vs. two-party consent requirements).
Copyright in AI-Generated Outputs
TranscriptAI generates various outputs from your audio files, including:
- Transcripts (verbatim text from audio)
- Summaries and key points
- Flashcards and study materials
- Highlights and action items
- Speaker identification and labels
- Vocabulary lists and terminology extraction
Ownership of AI-Generated Content
As between you and TranscriptAI, YOU OWN the copyright in AI-generated outputs derived from your User Content. TranscriptAI does not claim ownership of transcripts, summaries, flashcards, or other outputs created from your audio files.
Important Limitations
- AI-generated outputs are derivative works based on your original User Content
- If you do not own copyright in the source audio, you may not own copyright in the outputs
- AI-generated content may not meet the 'originality' threshold for copyright protection in some jurisdictions
- You are responsible for verifying accuracy before relying on AI-generated content
License Grant to TranscriptAI
By using the Service, you grant TranscriptAI a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to:
- Process and analyze your User Content to generate transcripts and insights
- Temporarily store your content on our servers to provide the Service
- Use aggregated, anonymized data to improve our AI models (if opted in)
This license terminates when you delete your content or close your account.
Downloadable Files and Exports
When you export transcripts, summaries, or other materials as PDF, DOCX, or other formats, you should:
- Include attribution to original speakers/content creators where applicable
- Add your own copyright notice if you own rights to the underlying content
