AGLC4 Rule 4.1.2: Multiple Authors

Two or three authors are all named, with and before the last. Where there are more than three, only the first author on the source is named, followed by et al. The same pattern is used in subsequent references.

Formatting

  • Two authors are joined by and, with no comma.
  • With three authors, the first two are separated by a comma and the last two by and, with no comma before and.
  • With more than three authors, the first-named author is followed by a space and et al.
  • et al is roman, lower case and has no full stop.
  • Subsequent references follow the same pattern using surnames.
