AGLC4 Rule 25.3: Legislation: Session Laws

Session laws collect every statute passed in a legislative session in order of enactment. Codes are preferred, but session laws are cited where the statute is not yet codified, has been repealed and dropped from the current code, amends many scattered code provisions, where the point concerns the enactment, amendment or repeal itself, or where the statute is a private law.

Formatting

  • The italic title is followed by a roman comma.
  • The law number, any original pinpoint, and the volume, session laws abbreviation and starting page follow, the first two each closed by a comma.
  • Volume, abbreviation and starting page are separated by spaces only.
  • A session laws pinpoint follows the starting page after a comma.
  • The year closes the citation in round brackets unless the title or the volume already shows it.
