AGLC4 Rule 2.6.2: Arbitration

Cite an arbitral decision by case name, award description, forum, case or award number, full date and pinpoint, using only information shown on the decision. Without party names, give the remaining details without the round brackets. Where the decision is reproduced in a report, book or journal, add the reproduction's citation after reported in, and pinpoint to its pages.

Case Name (Award Description, Forum, Case/Award No #, Full Date) Pinpoint.

A boxed element is filled in with the source's details; everything outside a box is written exactly as shown.

Formatting

  • The case name is italic; the award details are roman.
  • Award description, forum, case or award number and full date share one pair of round brackets, separated by a comma and a space.
  • Case/Award No is replaced by whatever designation the forum itself uses, written exactly as the forum writes it.
  • Where there is no forum, the arbitrator's name may stand in its place.
  • With party names, nothing but a space separates the closing bracket and the pinpoint.
  • Without party names, the details are given with no round brackets and a comma separates the full date from any pinpoint.
  • Pinpoints are to pages, paragraphs or both (rules 1.1.6 and 1.1.7).
  • A reproduction is introduced by the lower case, roman words reported in, after a space and with no comma.
  • The reproduction is cited in its own proper form with a starting page, keeping italics for journal and book titles.
  • Pinpoints then refer to the reproduction's pages and may add paragraph numbers.
