AGLC4 Rule 14.5: Documents of Other Supranational Parliaments, Councils, Bodies, etc

Other documents of parliaments, councils and similar bodies of supranational organisations (other than the EU) are cited by the organisation, the author or body, the title, the document number, the parliament, council, session or meeting, the full date and a pinpoint. The organisation is not repeated where the author or body name already includes it. Untitled documents may omit the title, as much of the session detail and date as is available is given.

Formatting

  • Each element is followed by a comma, including the date where a pinpoint follows.
  • The organisation and the author or body are roman.
  • The organisation is left out when the name of the author or body already contains it.
  • The title is italic; any quotation inside it uses curly single quotation marks.
  • The document number is introduced by Doc No, roman, without full stops, and is reproduced exactly.
  • Session details keep the body's own abbreviations, such as parl, ord sess or extraord period sess, in lower case without full stops, with superscript ordinals.
  • Where there is no session detail, the date follows the number or title after a comma; a date range uses an unspaced en dash, and a year alone is enough where that is all the document shows.
  • A page pinpoint is a bare number after the comma that follows the date.
