AGLC4 Rule 3.9.1: Gazettes

A gazette is cited by its jurisdiction, title, number, full date and pinpoint. Where several notices share the gazette or the page, the notice's author and title come first, followed by in and the gazette details with the starting page of the notice.

A boxed element is filled in with the source's details; everything outside a box is written exactly as shown.

Formatting

  • The jurisdiction comes first, roman and written in full, followed by a comma.
  • The gazette title is italic, followed by a comma.
  • The number is introduced by No and a space, with no full stop, and any letter in the number is kept.
  • A comma follows the number, then the full date as day, month in full, year.
  • In the simple form the pinpoint follows the date after a comma.
  • In the notice form the author comes first in roman, then a comma, then the notice title in single quotation marks.
  • The notice title is roman; names of Acts inside it are not italicised.
  • If the notice has no author, the citation opens with the quoted notice title.
  • After the notice title a space and the word in lead into the jurisdiction and the gazette details.
  • In the notice form the starting page follows the date after a comma, and the pinpoint follows the starting page after another comma.
  • Where a minister or department is the author, its jurisdiction abbreviation may follow in round brackets.
