AGLC4 Rule 24.1.2: Modern English Reports

Cite the Law Reports published by the Incorporated Council of Law Reporting for England and Wales wherever the case appears in them. For a series whose abbreviation contains LR, the volume number is placed between LR and the remainder of the abbreviation.

Formatting

  • The case name is italic.
  • Series organised by year, the modern series from about 1890 onward, take a square-bracket year; the earlier series organised by volume take a round-bracket year.
  • For LR series the volume sits inside the abbreviation, as in LR 4 PC, never before LR.
  • Report abbreviations are roman with no full stops.
  • LR P&D has no spaces around the ampersand, whereas LR Adm & Eccl and LR Sc & Div are spaced.
