AGLC4 Rule 23.2.1: Legislative Materials: Statutes and Delegated Legislation

Cite South African statutes and delegated legislation under chapter 3 using the jurisdiction abbreviations in the table. Where a provincial Act's title begins with the name of its jurisdiction, remove the name from the title and show it in abbreviated form in the bracket.

Formatting

  • The title and year are italic, followed by the jurisdiction in round brackets.
  • The national jurisdiction is written South Africa in full; provinces use the abbreviations in the table.
  • A provincial name at the start of the title is removed and appears only as the abbreviation in the bracket (rule 3.1.3).
  • The pinpoint follows the bracket after a space.
