Cite the authorised New Zealand Law Reports where the case appears there; otherwise use an unofficial series where available.

Formatting

  • Series organised by year take a square-bracket year; series organised by volume take a round-bracket year.
  • A paragraph-numbered reporter such as NZBLC uses the ¶ symbol immediately before the report number, and a pinpoint page may contain a thousands comma.
  • A pinpoint page is followed by a paragraph pinpoint in square brackets where both are given.
  • A judge or judges follow in round brackets, and the court follows in a second pair of round brackets.
  • A judgment delivered for others is described with for, as in (Young J for Young and Glazebrook JJ).
