Cite a German code by its italic title, (Germany) and a pinpoint. A well-known abbreviation of the code may be defined as a short title in the first citation and used afterwards.

Format

Formatting
- The code title is italic and is followed by its translation in square brackets.
- (Germany) follows in round brackets, and the pinpoint follows after a space with no comma.
- The section symbol § is followed by a space and the section number.
- A short title goes after the pinpoint in round brackets, inside curly single quotation marks, in italics.
- Later references use the italic short title, the footnote cross-reference in round brackets and the pinpoint.
