AGLC4 Rule 16.2.1: Cases: General Rule
Cite a reported Chinese case by its name, the year in square brackets, the issue number, the gazette or report series and the starting page, keeping only the elements the report actually shows. Translate the parties into English where possible, putting individuals' names into pinyin, and link the parties to any case description with a dash. Translate the series title into English, or give it in pinyin if no translation is possible.

Format

Formatting
- Chinese characters are never italicised; wherever the ordinary rule would italicise an element, its Chinese characters are placed between guillemets « » in roman type instead.
- The case name in characters is followed by its English translation in square brackets, roman.
- In the translation, the parties come first and the case description follows after a dash.
- The year of decision is in square brackets and is followed by the issue number.
- The gazette or report series title is given in characters, roman, followed by its English translation in square brackets, roman.
- The starting page follows the series translation after a space; a comma separates it from the pinpoint.
- The court may be added at the end in round brackets where it is not otherwise apparent (rule 2.2.6).
