AGLC4 Rule 25.7: Restatements

Restatements of the American Law Institute are cited as books, with the Institute as author. A second or later restatement puts the ordinal in words in round brackets after Restatement, followed by of and the subject. Pinpoints always include a section number, with comments and notes following it; comment is abbreviated cmt and comments cmts.

Formatting

  • American Law Institute is the roman author, followed by a comma.
  • The whole title is italic, including the round brackets and the ordinal word.
  • The publication bracket holds only the year.
  • The pinpoint is a section symbol and number after a space, followed where needed by cmt and the comment letter in round brackets.
