AGLC4 Rule 2.1.10: ex rel

In a relator action, always name the first relator, introduced by ex rel, after the Attorney-General party. The relator is the private person at whose request the Attorney-General sues.

Formatting

  • ex rel is italic as part of the case name, lower case, with no full stops.
  • ex rel stands between the Attorney-General party and the relator's name.
  • The defendant follows the relator after an italic v.
  • Only the first relator is named; no and Others is added.
  • The long phrase at the relation of is not used.
